Cape Fynbos

Sugarbird Cape Fynbos Gin is distilled and infused with Cape Fynbos. If there is one thing that inspires us, above all else, it’s the beauty and power of Fynbos. Fynbos, a Dutch word that translates to ‘fine bush’, refers to all 8,500 and more species associated with the mountainous Cape of South Africa.

Fynbos inspires and drives our flavour, recipes, design, and even our logo. Each of our gins is created with a different combination, which gives them their distinct, unique and proudly South African flavours. Every day we give thanks to the huge variety of plants that mother nature provides.

So What Does It Taste Like?

Original Fynbos

FLORAL | EASY | CITRUS | DELICIOUS

This big-G has been with us from the beginning. It’s got that lightly floral flavour that you’d expect from a quality gin, but – surprise! – you won’t expect the rare citrus twang, which is uniquely Sugarbird. You may also pick up notes of honeybush, rooibos, rose geranium, orange peel and buchu, originally sourced from the garden of one of our founders.

Tasting Notes: Top notes of Rose Geranium. Supported by undertones of citrus peel, Cape fynbos, pine and spices. Buchu and Hibiscus give the front floral note. Citrus fruit and juniper give the citrus body.

Juniper Unfiltered

FLORAL | JUNIPER | BERRY | DELICIOUS

Ready to get noticed? Yes please.

We’ve taken gin back to its roots to celebrate the personality and flavour of Juniper.  Offers the full personality of Juniper – paying homage to the pure essence at the core of gin.  This means that Juniper and citrus tones come first, followed by floral flavours of Black Pelagonium, sweet Crimson-eyed Hibiscus and Blueberries.

Tasting Notes: Top notes of Juniper celebrating the London style, but rounded out with fresh Rose Geranium, sweet Crimson-eyed Hibiscus and undertones of Cape May, Cape Chamomile and Pink Grapefruit.

Pino & Pelargonium

FLORAL | ROSÉ | LEMON | DELICIOUS

When you’re all about innovation, you don’t follow trends blindly, you want to create them. We didn’t create pink gin for no good reason.

It had to have purpose and represent the soul of Sugarbird. Enter Pino & Pelargonium. A gin that celebrates two of South Africa’s

most famous botanicals: Pinotage, a globally-loved SA grape varietal; and Pelargonium, a Fynbos plant that’s known around the world as Rose Geranium.

Tasting Notes: Top notes of rose geranium balanced in layers with lemon, mint and pine-like juniper. Pelargonium gives you a sweet, floral flavour, while pinotage adds a striking and vibrant colour
